Imperialism Project
In the study of the colonization of Africa, too often the focus is on European actions and attitudes, essentially reinforcing the idea that Africans themselves are not the primary actors in their own history. For this project, we will be focusing on the African response and resistance to colonization. The problem I will be faced with is: How can you use political cartoons or visual art to highlight a story of African resistance? How can you tell the history in a way that will engage and inform your audience?
Some things that I have learned about imperialism and resistance in Africa are, that even today we discuss how it now and then takes a struggle to improve a community, region, country, district, state, and even a household. We also talks about how people who are fighting to save a and/or your community, region, country, district, and or state is not always going to be perfect. Also that sometimes losing the fight like the “Rhodesian Bush War” can bring you and/or your community, region, country, district, and or state to a better place.
